more from the weekend...2/2011

Here are some more pictures from Grandma and Grandpa's visit last weekend...

Shooting hoops!
My what big feet you have...lol

Random piece of lint.
Kye keeps a pretty tidy house. He doesn't tolerate lint, fuzz, and what-not on the floor. I have to admit, some days he keeps pretty busy with the task at hand.

It doesn't look like it but, Moco was totally into it...

Camp'n out...kinda :-)

Kisses for Grandma!

We taught Kye to get a diaper when he pottys...well it's a work in progress. As you can see  he's got the hang of it...of course I'm pretty sure he doesn't need 4 of them. He thinks he's funny.

Play'n ball
 Kye showing Grandma his tent.

Just cute!!
It was beautiful today so we took the cycle out...

Video's aren't uploading...;-(

Grandma and Grandpa are visiting!!!
It's so cool this time cause Kye is really interacting with them, even when Mom and Dad are around...I think he may even prefer them to us at times!!!  Last night Kye and Grandpa were playing 'Get the baby', which is Kye's absolute favorite game in the entire world! Of course as soon as I try to record them Kye decides to do something different!
"This is my Grandpa and I love him."

I will post more pictures as I get them, I've been at work and as most of you know (or have personal experience with) my loving husband doesn't think to capture these lovely moments on film. It's my job and I don't mind a bit!!!
It's so much fun to watch him 'show off' with his adorable faces and antics....speaking of which here are a few pic's I had laying around on my desk top...tee hee

Silly Daddy, this is my motorcycle...oh I guess you can ride as long as it's with me!

Mama loves this baby

Doing a little reading.

Raise the ROOF!!! Whoot Whoot!!

Feb 1, 2011

Did you really think we'd get through this winter unscathed? I think not!
My little love has RSV(respiratory syncytial virus). For you and I it's not a big deal, we may have cold like symptoms but, for a kiddo it can get pretty nasty. The severity of the infection can vary greatly. It can be as simple as a sniffle or it can cause other lung problems, such as bronchiolitis or pneumonia and can last up to 15 days. Kids with lung issues, low birth weight, prematurity, weak immune systems, cystic fibrosis, heart problems and those exposed to second hand smoke are more vulnerable and prone to having a more severe case of the virus. So as you all know The Boy has the first three of those requirements....hence the hospital gown. Lovely huh?
It all started last week with a cough. I called the dr right away because we know someone who had it, know it's going around, and we don't want to take chances. We took him in that day and he was negative. We started breathing treatments at home and he just didn't improve. Saturday daddy took him in and came home with a plethora of medicine. Still, on Monday, he was not much better so, with our historical snopocalypse  on the way we decided to get him in again asap. Our pediatrician decided that, having exhausted all forms of home treatment, we should proceed to the hospital...do not pass go. The problem was that he was working so hard to breath he was afraid he'd tire out. His O2 levels were perfect. the cough and congestion weren't really a concern. He wasn't eating much but he was getting enough to drink. Anyway, in the ER they tested him again to be safe and took an X-ray. The X-ray showed pneumonia. UGH! Poor kid! Which meant fluids, which meant IV. Double UGH. So here we are...

RSV requires a semi-quarantine but, before the results came in we were out trolling around having fun. He's actually a really good sick kid! He has his melt downs, thats to be expected but, for the most part he deals well.

He's doing better as far as his breathing goes. He's still not eating or drinking much but, he's hooked up to an IV so he's ok. We'll see how things go in the morning/ I'll do my best to update in a timely manner ;-)

Jan 23 2011 On the move

The Boy is officially on the move.
He looks like a drunken little old man but, moving non the less! It's only been a few days for full time upright walking, so he's still perfecting his form. At first you could see the surprise on his face with every successful step. The better he got the less concerned he looked! I swear he tried to run yesterday, he giggled like a crazy person, tripped, caught himself on his ball (he was carrying it), looked at me like, 'that was weird' and made the choice to walk the rest of the way. It's so uber cute I can't even stand it.
He's really coming into his own these days. Everyday this kid does something that captures my amazement. Maybe it's a mom thing, has to be. The things I used to hear others talk about seemed cute but unremarkable. Now, I sit slack jawed, as my baby looks at me, grabs his crotch and say', 'Pee pee'. I wanna call everyone I know! I'm extremely proud and slightly bemused. I like to tell myself that the things my kid does are  just more interesting and 'awe' worthy then the stories I heard before entering motherhood....but I think not. I KNOW there's someone listening to my stories rolling their eyes, probably right now!! Anyway, here's an example of one of my many, daily awe inspiring moments...A few hours before this picture was taken I stood in the mirror with kye making faces. I'd make one then he'd make one. He'd never before followed my lead so closely. I realized I'd never had him smile on cue so I decided to start practicing. I said, 'cheese', exaggerated a smile and he followed suit. Cut to later. I said, 'cheese' and this is what I got! Just one time, it took me one time to get this kid to smile on cue! (I know that won't last long! ha ha) He's amazing and so stink'n cute!

You know how we love bath time...my Jaws rendition is horrible so if you don't have sound your not missing a thing!

The best for last. My silly silly little man. And my crazy grown man in the back ground...again, if you don't have sound it's probably for the best. If you do have sound you might want to turn it down a little!
We love you all and thanks for keeping tabs on our little Boog.
I hope he makes you smile half as much as he does me.

I had no idea that having a child meant my heart would go walking around outside of my body.

Dec 26th 2010 (I'm catching up!)

I am so behind!!
Christmas night Kye's cough got worse and he developed a slight fever. We gave him Tylenol and ibuprofen and he slept through the night. The next day he was still not feeling very good. We were giving him his breathing treatments every 4 hours, sometime as much as 3 in a 45 minute period per the nurses at Childrens. As the day went on he felt worse. He had a fever of 101ish even with Tylenol. His attitude was up and down so, we weren't to worried. Of course we were in touch with the exchange who said to pay more attention to his actions then the number on the thermometer.  He'd play like normal then, out of nowhere, flip into a fussy needy little boy. He wasn't eating much either but, he was having wet diapers, which means he's drinking enough. Anyway that night after he'd been in bed for about an hour he woke up crying. He was visibly red and shaking. His temperature was 102.6 so after calling the exchange we decided to go to the hospital, just to be on the safe side. We gave him Tylenol and slipped out the door. On the way you could tell he was feeling better. Little turd. At the hospital, of course they were concerned with his breathing. He ALWAYS breathes faster then a 'normal' kid, add in the fever and he was in the yellow zone...there are 3 zones, red, yellow and green. Just like a street light but regarding health. So what put him in the yellow was the rate he was breathing (under 50 is ok he was at 54 per minute) and HOW he was breathing. When a person struggles to breath they use their stomach muscles, you can see the air 'sucking' between their ribs and as they try harder, their nostrils will flair and you'll nee the neck muscles strain. Kye was using his stomach muscles and, mostly because of his missing pec muscle, you could see between his ribs when he inhaled. whew! Got all that? ANYWHOO...they always get alarmed at his breathing. Honestly, I need to count his breathing when he's not sick so we know what his normal rate is! Anyway, in the end he got Ibuprofen, some antibiotics and was fine. After about 45 min he was charming the pants off of everyone! They did discover a slight ear infection that the doctor said was more then likely caused by the cold he had.
Kye had a pulse-ox on (the original tinky foot maker) so when it came off he had to smell them to be sure...

He's doing much better! He was the day after! No fever since then and the cough, although still there, is much better.
